Evarné van Niekerk

Evarné van Niekerk is no stranger in the equine world and her renowned love and respect for horses is well known. Originally from Hazyview, Mpumalanga, Evarné and her husband Tobie have been living in the Hekpoort Valley since 2003. They have created a beautiful farm on the slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountain. The spectacular backdrop to the dressage arena is one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. Evarné is the Valley’s go-to person for all things equine and her knowledge, experience and caring nature is famous amongst owners and horses alike.

A dynamo of energy and creative talent, Evarné is a well-known artist. Her work is frequently exhibited and she is active in supporting various charities as well as the South African Lipizzaners through generous donations of her paintings to be auctioned.

She has a unique eye and uses distorted perspective to present a surreal reality. Commissions for portraits, equine, canine and human, are done in Acrylics, Oils and Oil Pastels.

Evarné’s latest creative project, with the support of Tobie, has been to create self-catering accommodation to share with fellow horse lovers. Evarné’s Horse Hotel is a unique venue where like-minded people can bring their horses and enjoy a break in the country. When you need a break, imagine how idyllic it could be to take your horse with you and explore new territory!

Time out and an opportunity for horse and rider to experience the Hekpoort Valley and the Magaliesberg Mountain, with accessible trails for outrides for every level of rider. In addition, Evarné curates art in the lodge, both her own and others’ paintings, sculptures and artistic creations, some will be available for purchase. She also hosts Paint-on-the-Plaas art opportunities, sharing the spectacular surroundings with other artists. There is no shortage of subject matter for aspiring artists.

Evarné also offers tailor-made dressage lessons/equine communication plus accommodation packages. Like and follow Evarné’s Horse Hotel on Facebook and Instagram to see current specials.
